    No Roll Over Beethoven? Chuck Berry/Beatles

    No Handel With Care? Wilbury’s

    No Dark Side of Keith Moon? Floyd

    I’m surprised you missed those out Neil!

    Seriously though Boulder to Birmingham is beyond words, the distance is over 1100 miles direct, over 1300 by road but I guess a lot of people would undertake that walk to see someone they loved one more time

    Also try the Vince Gill album Okie….. Nothin Like An Old Guy Clark Song and A World Without Haggard, two great tribute songs to fine artists and songwriters, but also a other great songs on it

    I have to think Rosanne Cash’s September When It Comes is a curious mix in part a tribute to her father even though he was still alive and sang with her

      Hello Barry – hope you are well;

      You could be onto something there – I was thinking of Joe Walsh ‘Dear John’ (Entwistle or Lennon), the Do-Ron-(Lane)-Ron (Dio) or ‘Jimmy'(Morrison)’Jimmy’ (Brown).

      On a less frivolous note, totally agree with you about ‘Boulder to Birmingham’ and during the week two more Gram Parsons memoriams ‘Crazy Eyes’ (Poco) and ‘Heavenly Fire’ (Souther-Hillman-Furay Band) have come to mind. Will definitely look up the Vince Gill album – was very impressed with his musical and spoken contributions to the excellent Ken Burns directed ‘History of Country Music’ series that was shown on BBC 4 late last year.

      Regards
      Neil
